Welcome to Grace Covenant Baptist Church, a solid anchor of confessional and postmillennial Reformed Baptist doctrine, we are firmly committed to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith as our doctrinal standard. We are dedicated to honoring God Almighty through the clear proclamation of the gospel, the direct exposition of His Holy Scriptures, and the transformation of culture. As a Reformed Baptist congregation, we are committed to spreading the good news and presenting His divine Word with integrity, in faithful obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Soli Deo Gloria"

The 1689 Second London Baptist Confession of Faith

Core Doctrines:

  1. 1. The Holy Scriptures: The Bible, consisting only of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God, the sole rule of faith and practice, sufficient for all matters of godliness and doctrine.

  1. 2. God and the Trinity: There is one true and living God, eternal, infinite, and unchangeable, existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—equal in power and glory, the Creator and Sovereign Ruler of all things.

  2. 3. Creation and Providence: God created all things visible and invisible for His own glory, and by His providence, He upholds, directs, and governs all creatures and events according to His eternal purpose.

  3. 4. The Fall and Sin: Humanity, created upright in God’s image, fell into sin through Adam’s disobedience, rendering all people guilty, corrupt, and subject to God’s wrath, incapable of saving themselves. During this life, this corruption of nature remains in those who are regenerated.

  4. 5. God’s Covenant and Redemption: God, in His eternal purpose, chose a people for Himself, entering into a covenant of grace through the mediatorial work of Jesus Christ, who, being fully God and fully man, accomplished redemption by His perfect obedience, atoning death, and resurrection.

  5. 6. Salvation by Grace through Faith: Sinners are justified by faith alone in Christ alone, our sin is imputed to Christ and His righteousness is imputed to us. This salvation is a gift of God’s grace, effected by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. This grace comes through the free offer of the gospel to all, and it is through the preaching of the Word that sinners are called to repent and believe.

  1. 7. The Church: The universal church consists of all the elect, united to Christ, their Head. Local churches are visible gatherings of believers, practicing the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, governed by Scripture under qualified elders.

  2. 8. The Law: God’s moral law, summarized in the Ten Commandments, was written on Adam’s heart at creation and remains binding on all people as a rule of righteousness. The ceremonial laws were fulfilled in Christ and thus abolished, and the judicial laws given to Israel expired with the nation; however, their general principles of justice continue to apply in all societies. For believers, the moral law no longer condemns but serves as a guide for grateful, Spirit-empowered obedience and godly living.

9. Christian Liberty and the Law: Christian liberty is freedom from the guilt of sin, the condemning wrath of God, the curse of the law, and bondage to Satan. In Christ, believers are free to approach God as Father, obey Him willingly, and live under grace—not under law as a covenant of works. This liberty is never a license to sin, but enables joyful obedience, and it must never be used to oppose rightful authority or cause disorder in the church.

  1. 10. The Ordinances: Baptism, by immersion, is for believers only, symbolizing union with Christ’s death and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice, administered to baptized believers in communion with the church.

11. The Last Things (Postmillennial Eschatology): Jesus Christ will return bodily and gloriously to judge the living and the dead. Prior to His return, the gospel will advance triumphantly through the church’s witness, bringing about a prolonged period of righteousness, peace, and Christian influence over the nations, fulfilling God’s promises to bless the world through Abraham’s seed. This millennial age will see the majority of humanity converted to Christ, with His kingdom progressively transforming society. At the end of this period, Christ will return to defeat the final rebellion, raise the dead, execute the final judgment, and establish the eternal state, where the righteous dwell in the new heavens and new earth, and the wicked face eternal punishment.

12. Eternal Destiny: The righteous, redeemed by Christ, will enjoy eternal life in God’s presence, while the unrighteous will suffer eternal, conscious punishment, separated from God’s favor.

The elders of Grace Covenant Baptist Church seek to provide doctrinal clarity by adopting a historical confession of the faith, and providing our teaching positions on numerous areas of doctrine. We contend that a church without a detailed doctrinal confession is vulnerable to ignorance, confusion, wolves and apostasy. As we work together for unity in understanding, we do not require agreement on all points of doctrine in our statement of faith or teaching positions for membership, but affirmation of the following doctrines are requirements for membership at Grace Covenant Baptist Church

ESSENTIALS FOR MEMBERSHIP

1) We believe the Bible as contained in the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, the only rule of faith and obedience.

2) There is one and only one God. This God has revealed Himself to us in the Scriptures as a personal being existing eternally in three persons (the divine Trinity): God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.

3) We believe mankind, God’s crowning act of creation, was created in God’s image. However, as a result of The Fall, all mankind are sinners by nature and acts, deserving of God’s wrath. All mankind are unable to save themselves, and are unable to change themselves.

4) We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, very God of very God, willingly humbled Himself in love for mankind, was born of a virgin, fully human. He led a sinless life, died a substitutionary, atoning death on the cross. Three days later he rose bodily from the dead. He ascended into heaven and now intercedes for His brethren on the right hand of His Father. He will one day return bodily to the earth to rule His Kingdom.

5) We believe a person is saved, or justified, by an act of God’s free grace and not on any merit of their own. God pardons their sins and accepts them as righteous in His sight, only for the righteousness of Christ imputed to us (through Christ’s substitutionary atoning death and bodily resurrection) and received sola fide, by faith in Christ alone.

6) Those who are justified will live eternally in the presence of God and all the redeemed, and those who are not justified will suffer eternal damnation in hell.
